The Nakivale Refugee Settlement, located in Isingiro District—186.4 miles southwest of Kampala, holds the distinction of being the oldest refugee camp in Africa, accommodating approximately 180,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia.
